It seems to me the people in Gaza should attempt to declare themselves the sovereign nation of Gaza, and they could all be Gazatchooeys, and leave open the option of uniting with their West Bank "brothers" at some point in the future when the Israelis and the West Bank folks get their borders figured out.

Any idea why no one proposes that idea?
