I agree - in fact, I just bought a new 200 Mhz Pentium MMX PC - good performance at a really good price.

I figured the money I saved will go to a new Deschutes system in 12 or 18 months that has the bells and whistles in place for much faster performance.

As for AMD catching up, Windows 95/NT has a lot to do with it - being EXTREMELY inefficient.

Check out some DOS benchmarks (a few have been published - check Tom Uberclockermeister or Robert Collins) and you'll see that the K6 is significantly slower than a comparable Pentium MMX.
