Saw this little blurb on email today.
<<We have all heard the rhetoric for months – the Trans- Texas Corridor (TTC) will reduce traffic, will be safer, and will be a boon for the Texas economy. I think a more accurate description would be boondoggle.
From Governor Perry’s hasty “fast-tract” approval of the project to the highly questionable foreign construction contract, the people of Texas have been left in the dark. Now without immediate actions, both our pocket books and our security are at risk.
What you may not have heard in the news about the TTC is its connection with the North American Union (NAU)...that’s right, “union.” Political forces from Mexico to Canada are uniting basically to dissolve our borders and eventually rule us as one body! As Congressman Ron Paul warns, "This all adds up to not only more and bigger government, but to the establishment of an unelected mega-government."
Do we want our already porous border to be ripped open with an all-access speedway between the U.S. and Mexico? Perhaps, I forgot to mention that if the NAU continues on track, security checkpoints will be virtually non-existent since “members” will be pre- cleared for entrance!
Whether your concern is security or new taxes, we must all speak out against the TTC and the NAU because our national sovereignty depends on it!
Senator John Carona, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security, will hold critical hearings on March 1, 2007, in Austin to review state policy on toll roads, the proposed Trans-Texas Corridor, and public-private partnerships in road and highway construction. These hearings are the first in a decade to review state transportation policy.
By attending the 8:30 A. M. hearing on Thursday, March 1, in the Extension Auditorium of the Texas Capitol, Texans can voice their concerns on these critical issues and the future of Texas transportation policy.
Also, on Friday, March 2, 1:30 P.M., Texans from all walks of life will be descending on the Capitol to tell our lawmakers the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) is bad for Texas
Some will come on horses, some on tractors, and many more on motorcycles – all united together against wasteful spending, corrupt politics, and a virtual double-tax on our roadways through toll fares.
Marchers will gather in the parking lot at 1st Street and Red River at 1:30 P.M. and will begin the trek to the Capitol by proceeding up Congress Avenue.
Please attend the hearing and join me at the Capitol because not only will the TTC be a new tax for Texans to pay, but also thousands of acres of land will be condemned, taking valuable property away from Texas land owners. The voice of the people must be heard.
