Company's Regional Footprint Now Includes Nine Countries

CHICAGO, Feb. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has announced its expanded digital map coverage in the Asia Pacific region with its first release of Thailand. The NAVTEQ® map of Thailand covers a population of more than six million and includes over 15,500 kilometers of road network within the province of Bangkok (Krung Thep Maha Nakhon).

"Our continuing commitment to the Asia Pacific region is driven by our mission to be a global supplier, establish a presence and do business in local markets and to meet the needs of our global customers who want to grow their navigation and location-based products and services," stated Rafay Khan, Vice President, Business Development Asia Pacific.

With the addition of Thailand, NAVTEQ offers robust digital map coverage in nine countries or territories within the Asia Pacific region, with plans for additional new country releases in 2007. Six countries or territories offer full coverage of the population, four of which feature 100% Detailed Coverage; NAVTEQ's highest coverage specification, which includes full attribution and verification of the complete road network. Along with its China joint venture, NAV2, NAVTEQ's Asia Pacific footprint currently covers over 700 million in population and includes over 10 million points of interest.

To build customer interest and work together in future releases, NAVTEQ has formed a strategic alliance with Able ITS (AITS). NAVTEQ and AITS will work together to develop a highly accurate digital map database that will enable the launch of navigable and location based services in Thailand. AITS has local expertise in Thailand as well as extensive experience in developing digital map databases with a strong foundation in quality, delivery and productivity.
