I found the following post particularly interesting and, to me at least, helped to explain some things in a general sense. Possibly you will feel this is one of those "bigoted sources feeding me," I hope not. Regardless, it seems to provide a rather creative and pragmatic framework for understanding the irreconcilable difference I have alluded to repeatedly.

My point is a simple one -- until both sides of any discussion are willing to honestly and rationally examine their philosophical pre-suppositions logically, in broad daylight, meaningful negotiations are impossible. As you said, "If you say it enough does that make it true"? -- let's hope so. This is where discussions must begin. I am sorry for my pessimism, but I do not think we have the luxury of time on our side and I do not feel islam is prepared intellectually to accept compromise any time soon.

I apologize if I took advantage of a typo -- I did not recognize that as such at the time.
