Re: Central African buys Zimbabwe mines:

I used to get my assays run at the Falcon mine. At that time a group of Canadians had taken it over (ex sherritt Gordon guys). I was impressed with the way they were turning things around at that time (1999?). Valid assays, next day results cost $1.50 (US)per sample vs $20 here. Exchange was 40ZIM to 1 USD then, last time I checked (6 months ago) it was about 250,000 to 1. Black market was closer to 400,000 to one. Joke was that $1000Z could buy you a roll of toilet paper. roll only had 700 sheets, if you converted $1000 to ones you would have 1000 sheets.

Good resources, very fertile land, good infrastructure, good people, basic appreciation for concept of British justice system, but in the words of a friend "we have been betrayed by our own leaders". I look forward to the day that Mugabe is no longer president.
