SUWANEE, Ga., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS) today announced that KATCH Networks Inc., a major cable operator located in Aichi Prefecture Japan, has chosen the ARRIS C4(TM) CMTS to implement the KDDI Cable Plus(TM) Primary VoIP service. (KDDI is one of Japan's largest telecom providers and subscribing cable service providers such as KATCH Networks use their network to provide primary line VoIP telephony service over HFC).

This represents a significant, strategic win for ARRIS in Japan, where some of the world's most stringent VoIP quality standards exist. KATCH's decision was based on the carrier-grade attributes of the ARRIS C4 CMTS and ARRIS' level of local and worldwide technical support. The ARRIS C4 CMTS provides KATCH with the stability, reliability and density required to be successful in providing quality Primary VoIP service.

"We are extremely honored to have been awarded this opportunity to supply multiple C4 CMTS' for KATCH's Primary VoIP business," said George Fletcher, ARRIS Senior VP of Sales for Japan. "Our C4 CMTS platform exceeded KATCH's performance expectations and secures a strategic launching pad and customer reference for other operators in Japan who want to successfully and confidently deploy KDDI Cable Plus(TM) Primary VoIP service."
