j -- re: gold shares did not behave well

In my view, it depends if one is trading in and out -- or in for the full term.

I've held selected junior mining shares since Au <$300 -
and held through periods of massive volatility to the downside -
but my appreciation over the years has been great... many times the multiple of the metal.

I've only sold due to company specific problems (quickly reinvested in replacement juniors - with no timing considerations) or due to buyouts -- which has been the majority case.

There will very likely be a storm - but I'll ride it out.
Then again, I've learned not to lose sleep over a 20-30 or even 50% downdraft. The prospective gains are so much greater than with physical alone...

The diamonds will, eventually, be sifted from the sand... and I think timing is for fools.

... as well, I believe there is reason to consider viable the prospect of historical inevitability...:-)
