And their traditions are different. Yes, and I just learned today their accent is somewhat offensive.....and is more comparable to an Austrian or Swiss accent than to a northern German one. I think I've mentioned that I am getting tutored in German.....I have never fully understood the differences between regular Swiss German and high and low German and how they correlate. Well my tutor explained it to me........the Swiss speak high German which is what German Germans speak only when they do business but low German when they are being social. What kills me is that the Swiss already are pretty much forced to know French, Italian, Romanish and English.........why would they go through the hassle of having two Germans to learn as well. I can't imagine what that does to one's brain having so many language pathways running through it. <g>
