The Senator's use of the phrases "socialized medicine" and "burdensome taxes" suggest that he's not pushing a single-payer solution, and some won't like that.... Yes. I do not like that. It's a half-assed measure. It's better than a full-assed measure or a no-assed measure but it's not as good as having two half-asses. I admit I'm having trouble figuring out if it's the whole ass or the no ass that's the good ass. Single payer is the ONLY way to go. The monopolistic, corrupt practices of the health care industry have to go by the wayside. Other countries have tried it and I don't see them dying to have the US's looming bankruptcy over healthcare. Oh yeah, the other problem with US healthcare is that it's really not very good. There are lots of MRI machines and the like but the people are a pretty iffy lot. I think much of what passes for diagnoses could be done much more efficiently by computer....put in symptoms, spit out possible diagnoses and fine-tune by a professional in Bangalore or Thailand. Who needs someone to ask: how are you feeling today? Dean Edell says that he would NEVER want to be a doc today. He discourages young people from going into the profession. The happiest doc I know is an adminstrator doing little or no doctoring. All business and paperwork and arguing with corrupt insurance companies and little actual helping of people. Doctors would be happier in single payer as well. At least those doctors who really WANT to help people, not just pad their bank accounts and go golfing. I also think that rational, adult human beings should be able to have 99.99% of the prescription drugs they want when they want and in what quantity they like. They can't resell it but they should be able to take it. What are we slaves or children?
