The "Martian tripods" were in H.G. Well's famous War of the Worlds. (You might remember the movies or the book.)

I used that as an example of (what I regard as) a *highly unlikely* event.

Same as your post's suggestion that we will see 'Iran's nuclear bomb' arming Cuba or Venezuela '90 miles from our shores, guaranteed'.

Not 'guaranteed', IMO. Not even slightly likely at all. (Like those Martian tripods).

We wouldn't let the Soviets get away with that... and the Truman Doctrine establishes a basis for going to war over any such threat anywhere in out entire American hemisphere. (And Cuba or Venezuela could be knocked over like bowling pins in very short order if we EVER had such a GOOD causus belli. Hell... we might even welcome such idiocy on either one of their parts, for the most excellent beach front real estate and world class oil reserves we would gain commercial access to! :-)

And, naturally, Iran would be toppled at the first hint they wanted to export nuclear arms in our direction --- an excellent reason for them not to.

MOST countries cross the nuclear threshold to ENHANCE THEIR OWN MILITARY STRENGTH AND DETERRENT ABILITY... (not for commonalizing that factor, and thus reducing their own strength by passing it along.

You will note, perhaps, that the 'nuclear club' is not exactly giving away 'keys to the club house' willy nilly. :-)
