FSII has an electroless copper deposition process that they have been trying to peddle for this application. It looked pretty promising, but I don't know if they got anyone to bite. It appeared to have a lower cost of ownership as compared to Semitool, but I believe that Semitool has a lock on most of the developed copper depostion processes. IBM, Motorola and AMD were all looking at Semitool. I think they are the way to play this game. For sure they will capture some of the aciton, if not all of it. The other angle to play is the CMP side. For copper to work, the cmp process will get a lot of attention. New slurry's, dedicated tools for sure...So look for whoever has the CMP production lock on these three plus Intel to be a big winner as well. Anyone know who that would be?
