CJ, let me put it this way. Would it really have made a difference back in 2002 if we thought North Korea wasn't as nuclear capable as once assumed?

Some say yes. I say no. Especially since North Korea always comes up with their own excuses to do whatever the heck they feel like. They didn't need one back in 1994, and they certainly didn't need one in 2002. Even without the whole "Axis of Evil" stuff, they could have simply said that we're delinquent on the Carter accord and continued forward.

Sure, we've come full-circle back to buying more time, but that's a result of policy shifts, not because of the usual second-guessing from the CIA. So some in the CIA had doubts. Like I said, there's always going to be a doubter. That's what happens when half of the CIA's job is to interpret whatever data they get. What's the point of second-guessing now, except to follow the footsteps of that loser George Tenet?
