French like Spanish and Italian you only have 2 genders, male or female. Same in Durch and Danish, Norwegian and Swedish, where the 2 genders are a common (united male/female historically) and neutra, den or det. Still some left over from old days like in Swedish the clock is a she.

That's one of the drags with learning those languages, you just need to learn the gender of each noun. Some rules do apply but at large, big trouble unless you grew up with it.

Working on Spanish right now, those conditionalis 2 and 3 drive me nuts ;)
