I have a question; As an avid CSI viewer I was struck by reading about the conviction of Michael Goodwin in the Murder of Mickey Thompson and his wife in 1981. The similarities were that in both the CSI episode and real life the victims were outside their home in a gated community by two men who entered and left the community on bicycles and in both cases a former business partner mired in litigation with the victim was arrested and convicted. But it seems the similarities end there. In the CSI episode the hit men were found and they made a connection to the ex partner by blood found on the money in the possession of one of the victims. In the real case the hit men were never found and there is thus no connection between between the murders and the convicted man. In fact only about 15 years after the murders occurred and the offer of a million dollar reward did someone step forth and testify about some kind of death threat. How on earth did this guy ever get convicted? I suspect it was because he was the only suspect that was permitted to be discussed during the trial. Because It was excluded by the judge I didn't mention that the police stopped persuing a suspect who had failed 3 lie detector tests to focus on Goodwin and the victims had $250,000 in gold that was never found.
