Goldman update

Sonus Networks highlights at the GS Tech Conference
March 1, 2007

News

We met with Sonus Networks Chief Executive Officer Hassan Ahmed at the Goldman Sachs Technology Symposium.

Analysis

Key points from the fireside chat: (1) Where are we on the adoption curve? 30 billion minutes a month are carried on SONS networks. VoIP accounts for only 20% of core traffic and low single digits of edge/access traffic. (2) Competitively, the company is leveraging its dominant position in the core to gain edge share. The gap to competition is expanding. (3) SONS is emerging as the leading vendor to AT&T as Lucent has stumbled, and SONS’s position in Cingular, AT&T, and BellSouth creates significant critical mass in the new AT&T. (4) SONS expects to gain share in 2007 and 2008, allowing it to outgrow 20%-25% market growth. (5) Opex growth to pursue further product differentiation will continue, but at a lower pace to allow SONS to reach long-term operating margin target of 20%.
