Ok could you please explain:

"The argument that Mohammad invented the Islamic religion is different."

I haven't studied it in depth. The basis of the claim seems to be based on his upbringing. He was an orphan who was taught the religion of Israel and of Christianity by his Uncle and he was taught all of the pagan and Idol worshipping religions. His Uncle and he would sit by the Kaaba in Mecca and this is how they spent their spare time as he grew up. The Kaaba was at the crossroads where all carravans came and went to market goods. So every tribe and dogma had its religious artifacts and teachings stored at this site. That is what it was there for. They would of course worship whatever their thing was while stopping over on their ventures, which furthered Mohammad's awareness and understanding of diverse religions. This is not under dispute.

The complaint is that he plagerized the Jewish religion to bring the Arabs from barbarism of tribal paganisms, and he added his own slant. That seems like a logical conclusion given his upbringing, and the similarities in content. The counter argument either makes you believe he was truthful about receiving the message from an Angel or not. I am not knowlegeable enough about Islam to present that argument but if you are interested you should go to an official Islamic web site to see their argument. Both sides have lots to say and if you only want to listen to one side of the argument you are not likely to be able to form an unbiased view. Caution, scholarly people have spent lifetimes studying it without being able to resolve the argument in their own minds.
