No matter what our feelings towards NOK is, IMHO, NOK is a winner by moving the world towards WCDMA.

No matter how much QCOM/IJ talked about the benefits of CDMA2000 etc, it seems to me that the big winner is WCDMA and there is a chance that QCOM might not be a huge huge winner in WCDMA world and QCOM might have to share some of the royalties with a few other corporations. I am sure all of the negotiations by NOK a few years back were all planned, NOK was very successful in delaying 3G, and now they can use the delay strategy to get a better deal with QCOM.

I really do not think QCOM can do without NOK and by no means NOK can do without QCOM. AT the end they would need to negotiate and imho QCOM would have to share some of the profits with the old world monster.

I might be totally wrong so I am sorry if I am completely off base.

QCOM, Toll Gate to 3G
