Guiliani hasn't been vetted in a national sense yet. In New York City having colleagues who are mafia-connected might be acceptable. I'm not saying he has any, just that we should make sure. Sometimes it's hard to get to the top as an Italian in big east coast cities without bhaving a little help from "the neighborhood". Also, to make sure he's clean of any corruption issues in general.

By the way, all this is well known inside the Guiliani campaign. They are very worried about some of Guiliani's closet skeletons.
