"I think most here and everywhere for that matter have no doubt that mohammad invented islam...and that is the main argument from many...mohammad invented islam, not God or some supreme being but mohammad...islam was invented by a man.

That is the common criticism/skepticism of all religions, so what? I am fairly comfortable with the thinking that only Muslims believe he didn't invent it.

"Surprised that you would agree with this concept where a billion or so don't."

I've no idea what that sentence has to do with me.

I simply pointed out the obvious bias from which you garnered and submitted your information ... is there ever a time when you don't intend to read far for more into things than is posted. I understand your argument with me wont hold up simply as a reasoned discussion so you need to add stawman commentary, and attribute it to me so you can whine about but it sure wastes a lot of bandwidth.

"Did you know that mohammad could neither read nor write and that the main parts of the koran were written after his death by others who knew him?? Ashia provided info for a good deal of the koran...so I have read."

The most common belief about Mohammad is that he was illiterate. That information is actually used by Muslims as evidence that he couldn't possibly have invented the text of the Quran. There are Hadith (collections of religious directives and sayings by Mohammad) that are nothing like the language of the Quran. The Quran itself makes the challenge in one of the Surahs, to bring the top 40 scholars from all of civilization and you will not be able to match the writing of even one Surah in the Quran. So, to do so would be one way to invalidate the religion altogether. You'd have to be a scholar who understands formal Arabic to really appreciate that. I am not one, but I am familiar with the claims.

The parts of the Quran itself were said to be written down by scribes as Mohammad recited it on the occassions that he claimed to have been visited by an angel.

One of the arguments for claiming he invented the religion is that the illiteracy thing is a myth, and he must have been a top notch religious scholar. That is a logical challenge, since on the surface it doesn't really make sense that he would have been illiterate and also so thoroughly educated in the religions in and around Mecca.

"that the main parts of the koran were written after his death by others who knew him?? Ashia provided info for a good deal of the koran...so I have read.

You may be refering to the collection of texts that embody the Islamic religion. There is the Quran, and the Hadith are considered by most to be an inseparable component of Islam. The Hadith were being gathered long after his death and tremendous efforts were made to authenticate them by visiting various people who were with him to corroborate the authenticity of each Hadith. Those Hadith that can be corroborated via several unimpeachable sources are considered strong Hadith. Those Hadith that can only be accounted for by one unimpeachable source are also considered true but are labeled weak Hadith.

You seem to be looking for religious debate. Isn't there a thread someplace that does that. I might be interested in observing such but I am not qualified or interested in participating in that sort of thing. Its also odd that you seem so sure about something that you obviously know so little about. But feel free to just be yourself.
