Limtex, you are creating a straw man. Nokia does not claim to have worked around Qualcomm`s patents. That was what they hoped to do when WCDMA was being standardized, but it was impossible. Contrarily, they concede the essentiality of Qualcomm`s IPR, but claim they have more patents now that deserve commercial credit in any new cross-license. Unfortunately for them, with HSDPA/HSUPA, which arose from Qualcomm`s HDR research and patents, Qualcomm`s portfolio has also grown substantially in size and significance.
