No, whatever Israel did in the Lebanon war has nothing to do with the case of AQ's strategy in Iraq.

Second, the use of cluster bombs in the middle of a shooting war with Hizbullah, whose actions I notice you have never once criticized, is hardly the same thing as blowing up crowded marketplaces, except in the minds of those for whom any fault ascribed to Israel automatically equals and exceeds the worst atrocities committed by anybody else.

It's the old double standard thing.

Do you find the IDF commander equally untrustworthy?


I don't know who he was, and if he was being quoted accurately. Haaretz is an extremely left-wing paper, they often run with quotes of terrible sounding things that turn out to be from one left-wing soldier who is trying to ramp up support for his political party. I didn't hear anything much about this from the New York Times, and if it was so, boy would they have run with it! Even if it wasn't so.
