Justin,

First of:

If you're getting an O2, I'd recommend the 200Mhz R5k with plenty of RAM.

Define plenty for me.. 256Megs?? (That's normally what we order for our machines)...

That's true, but in the space that MSFT's trying to sell into now, the consumers are typically better educated about the issues, and care less about fluff. That's assuming that the users have some say in purchases, of course, instead of just management.

But that's just the problem.. the users don't get to choose.. when we are selling the only people I care to pitch to are the guys that can sign the checks.. otherwise I am wasting my time. I have been on both ends of the equation and know that the management always has to okay it.. and if they have some other idea in their head you have to beat them senseless to get them to change their minds.. most professional don't have time for that.

I agree with you here, I was just trying to point out how far they've got to go.

Point noted and agreed with.. but that's a big steamroller ;)

'cause it wouldn't take real advantage of the hardware, NT being a more 'generic' OS.

And there in lies it potential strength... let's just assume that with the new copper process IBM's powerPC starts to dominate.. well MS can (relatively) quickly move into that processor.. they aren't "hindered" by being stuck with one platform.
