Pete, I really wonder how do you manage to chain one stretch over another stretch, and get a house of cards constructed...
Let see:
"Out and out lie! Its already available and has been for a year, Sun's Studio 11 C compiler."
Last time I checked, Sun is not AMD yet, or else. To develop an efficient compiler and on time, one needs to have at least clock-by-clock accurate description of architecture well ahead of time. Somehow I doubt very much that AMD shares this kind of top secret information with external companies.
"You can see its benefits in SPECfp_2000"
Last time I checked, the current measure of performance is SPEC2006, SPEC2000 has been retired.
"The more cores you add, the higher the SPECfp_2000 score got."
Yep, 5-10% improvement for twice the price is a really wise investment.
"It has a higher score than any C2D product."
See my remark about SPEC2006 vs SPEC2000.
"Power 5+ (4 cores) was the top at over 4K. FYI, IBM also has a parallizing C compiler to get the above."
Last time I checked, AMD is not a division of IBM yet. And more: Power5 is an IBM product, and IBM accidentally has a good compiler for it (in addition to 36MB of cache)...what a surprise. Thanks for supporting my point Pete.
"Now take your medicine and agree that you were WRONG!"
Now, now, junior! Some people may consider this as very impolite, even insulting...
