The real problem is US wage deflation, stocks can't go up with people's salaries are going down and they are going down.

My sense is that you can no longer maintain a middle class standard of living if you are in manufacturing or the traditional services (non financial) industries. At least you can't make it on one salary.

But for the top 10% or so, the income gap has become huge.

I don't see any way to reverse this.
