I only get the paper version of the SJ Mercury News and so far
stubbornly refuse to pay ANOTHER $2.95 for the electronic version.
I'm cheap.

I'm not worried about AMAT insider trading at all.
There was a very useful piece of info in the article...quote:

ANOTHER INSIDE STORY: There's one instance where insider trading is very informative: When buying or selling is being reported to the SEC, there can't be a deal in the works.

Bold emphasis mine.
So that would let you (sometimes) evaluate a takeover rumor.
Of course, with NO insider trading, anything is possible.
