Nice try...Here was the actual quote:

IF you had actually bothered to think about it and look it up on the same page as the quote, you'd have noticed that "nowdays" was in 2000. You'd have gotten bonus points for noting that during that time, the Iranian population growth rate was ~1.1%. In other words, the Jewish population grew at 3x the national average between mid-1990s and 2000. Significantly, it grew even at much higher rate *relative* to the normal birth rate for the Jewish community, given that they typically have smaller families than the national average.

So, no, they chose to return; and that is the best evidence against your religious persecution charge.
