I'll just wander over to the rez. Probably Sherwood Rancheria, cuz there is land. THE REZ just has a casino. But I know the tribal chairman quite well; a classmate of my middle child. Around here, the natives alternated between the inland valleys and hills, and the coast, a bout 15 miles away. Lots of sea food, lots of salmon, berries, acorns, deer, quail, turkeys, and the usual assortment of edible and medicinal plants and all sorts of little animals. Not too many years ago, like about 1950, the rivers up here ran so full of salmon you could cross on their backs. Not anymore. |
