Should be, but a corporation is a social structure and when the rules are stacked against it then the "talent" seeks an easier path. If Detroit had Toyota's cost structure and growth, it might attract some of best talent.

As it is, the best engineering graduates probably shun the idea of working for the "big three" as they used to be known.

It would be a shame but I suspect that someday the Chinese may own the GM and Ford nameplates unless the playing field changes.
