You make some valid points that I actually agree with. But in 10 years I will be proven right. Iran didn't elect moderate leaders - they elected the same people responsible for taking hostages in 1979. JFK never would have calmed the issues between the Soviets and the US. His arrogance damn near got us blown off the planet. Now, just as we waited for the Soviets to acquire the bomb we seem ready to repeat the same mistake with Iran. The Soviets didn't have the technology to beat us after WWII just as Iran doesn't have the technology to beat us now. We can either wait until Iran has the potential to kill hundreds of thousands or we can deal with them now. They've flipped the entire world the bird and continued their Nuclear ambitions. Everything is a choice - I'd rather not be at war but there are times when a man has to stand up for what he believes in. We'll never please all of the people but we may just make the world a safer place. We did in WWII. I would add that there really isn't anything currently that can stop a dirty bomb attack now. The question becomes do we wait for that to happen? We didn't let Hamas and Hezbollah take over and our actions since Bush II didn't have anything to do with them. They've been in control and involved in terrorism for a very long time. We just never paid attention until terror was brought to our shores. The blame game of current leadership is disingenuous. Our leaders have been out to lunch on Middle Eastern issues for a very long time and its only because we were never the target. There's a lot of blame to go around - be fair. I'm not sure how I ended up posting on this thread last night but I'm really not up for fighting about something we can't control. It serves no purpose - we're just along for the ride.
