Hasn't that always been the problem? And isn't that something we ought to understand that "Americans" CANNOT do? After all, how do we go into another culture formed by thousands of years of history and "infuse" into their people new ways of thinking?
Which part of the culture do we have the problem with? 95% or 5% trying to impose their will by violence? makes a difference, yes? Do you know? Of course not, but you will pretend you do.
>>No place on earth will be safe from the troubles of a Middle East that has been surrendered to Sunni and Shiite Islamist extremism."
You have it just about 180 degrees from right. The fact is that most places on earth will not be safer UNTIL the Middle East has been surrendered to Sunni and Shiite Islamist extremism.
It being such a quietist, stay at home philosophy. Why they've never attacked outside their own lands, except for those 2 little incidents in New York, then there was Bali, Madrid, London, Paris, etc. etc.
If leaving these people alone is the cure than Paris should be the safest place on earth. Yet 10 years ago they tried to take down the Eiffel Tower and the Paris suburbs burn routinely now.
But go ahead, why don't you explain how handing over Iraq and Saudi Arabia to Al Qaeda will make us all safer. I'm all ears.
>>I will wait until I hear the generals and the troops say it's doomed to failure."
But you still don't get it. The Generals and the troops can win every single battle, every one, and not accomplish anything.
It's obvious you consider our military dumb as a post and knowing nothing about counter-insurgency. They only want to shoot people, the poor dumb sods. This helps the gusto with which you just sneer at everything realating to the campaign and repeat "cost-benefit" as if nobody else had ever thought of the term. |
