IMO the true good would be to look forward to a day when there are no 'poor' of any kind. The rightwing capitalists assume there will always be the poor and powerless to exploit hence their utter disdain for a strong middle class. If they had their way, we would have the modern version of a feudal system with a corporation, not a castle, in the central role.

Actually, that sounds fairly close to the model we do have in many places!

For Jesus to say to his followers, the world will never improve is quite a pessimistic prediction. I don't think that's the right attitude so I figure it's probably a misinterpretation.

IMO you teach a man to fish and make him wealthy (sorry to the fish of course) you do not give him fish and keep him ignorant and poor. You do that often enough and pretty soon everyone's wealthy....now that sounds like a reasonable compromise.
