Colorado MEDtech Inc. to Manufacture RiboPrinter Microbial Characterization System for Japan's Tokyo Buhin Kogyo Co. Ltd.

BOULDER, Colo.--(BW HealthWire)--Sept. 29, 1997--Colorado MEDtech Inc. (NASDAQ:CMED), a Boulder-based medical products and services company, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, RELA Inc., has agreed to manufacture the RiboPrinter(tm) Microbial Characterization System for Tokyo Buhin Kogyo Co. Ltd. (TBK). TBK is part owner of Qualicon, LLC, a subsidiary of E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. The manufacturing contract is valued at over $3 million. The RiboPrinter is an integrated, automated testing instrument for food-borne bacteria. Designed for use in the food-processing industry, the system will help to ensure the safety and quality of food products. RELA worked with DuPont's Food Quality Management Systems and Central Research & Development groups to design and develop the system. DuPont unveiled the system at the American Society for Microbiology show in May, 1995. The RiboPrinter received R&D Magazine's R&D 100 award for analytical chemistry for 1995 and Food Processing Magazine's Technological Development of the Year award. "This represents an element of our long-term manufacturing agreement and we are pleased to have seen an expansion of the RiboPrinter business," said John V.
