You're right, "it is best not to place too much importance on the punditocracy...and attract better people to politics, this kind of stuff does not help that cause...."

She's still an entertainer of sorts, not a politician... to control that kind of speech, we would then have to get Jay Leno and the others to refrain from cracking political jokes, as well... I think the line has to be drawn, but I think it first has to start from the politicians themselves... for the past 6 years, all I ever heard from the dummycrats is that Bush is a traitor, a liar, a moron, that he went AWOL, and so on... my primary focus is not really on what she said as much as the fact that these same big mouth politicians who can give it out at every opportunity can't take a little jab coming from an entertainer writer, even meant as a joke, and she's not even a politician... I find that revealing about the politicians themselves... they're a bunch of babies...
