I have no doubt that Bush and his minions are doing all they can to support the market.

But they are not omnipotent. Especially in a world where the US depends on huge inflows of foreign capital to support an artificially inflated living standard along side a truly grotesque military budget and hundreds of foreign bases.

And Bush has much less support in elite circles nowadays than he did a few years ago.
