NPR is reporting that a name has been given to the widespread bee colony collapse: Colony Collapse Disorder (for real!). The theory(still to be proven) is that neonicotinides in pesticides used on crops are causing a memory disorder in bees such that they don't remember how to get home. It's happening in Europe too.

This portends possible widespread collapse(maybe too strong a word) of some food crops.

Maybe we should dress up some of the agribusiness execs in bee costumes and have them pollinate the crops?
