It would be interesting to know if the experience triggered by such a brain stimulation is the same as the state of religious ecstasy that mystics have described.

If they are, then you have to consider the possibility that such transcendant experiences may actually be self-derived.

As far as interpretation goes, it has always seemed to me that the core of each religion is basically the same. As they say, the devil's in the details....with religion that may be literally true..<g>
