I agree, Ken. Nevertheless, taxpayers' money is often spent that way.

In Juneau, the rule was that a certain percentage of every public building had to be spent on art. Most of the time the art was appropriately Alaskan, but every so often they come up with Aintwe uglius specimens.

Here's one. It was hated so much the legislature moved it from the Capitol to the Museum. I always thought it looked like a piece of a shipwreck. It's called Nimbus.



They replaced it with this sculpture, which actually looks like a bear.
