With an online discount broker it might be tough getting the broker to mark the confirmation. Is it necessary? or can I mark it myself? What if I have the same shares in several brokerage accounts and I sell some shares from brokerage A but they are not the latest shares, can I consider them the latest if I always opt for LIFO?

"It is a good practice to alert your broker which shares you want to be sold 'cause he can mark it on the confirmation. "
