Carter was a much better president than Bush. He was just unlucky on the Iranian hostage rescue mission and the timing of the fall of the Shah. He was also handicapped economically as the bill for the Vietnam War came due and OPEC decided flex its oil muscles when everyone was driving gas-guzzlers.

Carter did three great things, the Camp David Accords, the huge solar energy and conservation program which Reagan got rid of, and the open diplomacy with the Soviet Union which led to glasnost. He was also the only true Christian president we have had in modern times. He is a truly honest, moral man.

All that said, he made mistakes. But he was not dishonest, corrupt or incompetent like Bush, and he nevre lied to the American People. In fact he was truthful to a fault sometimes.
