Medicare, single payer, outlaw health insurance. Get rid of the AMA's lobbying influence on the number of medical schools, get rid of the protection of inept doctors by the profession, bring in foreign doctors, etc.

We have to reduce costs of the services themselves and of the payment for them.

Health care in the USA is a disaster. Congress and Bush could do this tomorrow: get rid of the age restriction on Medicare and ban private health insurance.

We then tackle the inane end-of-life heroic measures for the terminally aged and ill which is where a huge chunk of change goes to. People should not and do not have to spend their entire lives working just to pay the medical bills for their last 6 months of life.
