After 5 years their strategic value has got to be pretty low. It was probably pretty low after 3 months of detention. The US government should either charge them with something and prosecute them ASAP, or let them go

But if they are enemy combatants, then if we let them go they will very likely go to Iraq and make IEDs, or suicide bomb Shia or American troops. So how can we let them go?

It was never usual in any war to let POWs go while hostilities were still ongoing, unless in exchange. And AQ doesn't take prisoners, so exchanges won't happen.
