One minor variation on the "pardon Libby after the 08 election" bit. There was some talk yesterday on TV and some blogs that the appeal process might run its course before that point, say, even as short as a year. That would put Libby in jail as early as the spring of 08 from yesterday's verdict. That might well force Bush's hand. And introduce all sorts of complications on various levels. My own take is that, if we are fortunate, this may lead to learning more about the heated conflicts between Cheney's office and the CIA and the ways in which the intelligence got cherry picked. And, also, the many ways, many unprecedented, the Bush admin attacked its critics.
