For the millionth time, there has never been enough money spent on education. If only we were willing to open the floodgates like we do for 'pork' and for war. Alas, it never happens with education.
Education receives more money than the war, and all pork/earmarked projects combined. The floodgates have been opened for education, that just objective fact. Its true even if the floodgates should be open wider.
Even if we assume your statement "there has never been enough money spent on education" is correct, it doesn't refute the point that "even if crime has greatly increased in schools in the past dozen years it doesn't seem like that would be enough, by itself, or even combined with higher property prices, to absorb all the additional funds that education has received in that period". To put it another way it doesn't refute the point that the floodgates have been opened on education spending. We spend over $900 billion on education in the US per year. That's more than social security, a lot more than defense including the war supplementals, and more than the GDP of Brazil, South Korea, India, Mexico, Russia, or Australia, or not much less than the combined GDP of all the Scandinavian/Nordic countries. Its more per student than Japan, or than any European country except Norway and Switzerland.
