Their (AMD, CYRIX) design, technology, superlative vision, customer loyalty and financial resources are overpowering - despite their current status as failures.

You may be partially right about the present, but investing is about the future. I think Intel's future will continue to be bright. I have no idea about AMD at this point.

But unlike you, I see the future of NSM/Cyrix as bright. Unless you are blind, you have to be impressed with their designs produced on shoe-string budget. Everything else after coming up with the design was an uphill battle for Cyrix.

Most of the problems will be either be eliminatd or significantly reduced after the merger. Especially ability to produce in volume. You may know that NSM has a broad x86 cross-license that allows NSM to produce x86 type processors either internally or subcontracted externally.
