The MediaGX was designed in 1994 and 1995 and announced at the 1995 Microprocessor Forum in October, 1995.

I would venture to say that some of that $126 million was spent on getting the MediaGX to work since it was not shipped until 16 months after it was announced (October, 1995 - February, 1997).

Last time I looked, Cyrix lost money (Q2/97) shipping this and the 6x86 - so why was it worth it?

Remember - making money is the objective, not killing off Intel.
