I don't need to hypothesize as to the cause of the decline of the number of Christians in Tunisia. 200,000 were expelled after the Muslims took over the country in 1956 and established Islam as the state religion. Many of the others left voluntarily. Less than 20,000 remain. The Catholic Church agreed to close all but five churches, and since then the number of Catholics has been declining, presently 0.2% of the population. The percentage of Christians of all denominations is 0.22%. The population of Tunisia is now 99.66% Muslim.
