Yen Carry trade- important point.

I read a story where it is NOT uncommon for these hedge funds and investment bank in-house traders to use 20 to 1 leverage on borrowing in Yen and buying other currencies or assets.

A 4-5-6 percent move is a disaster for those that leveraged.

I'd like to propose the subject for this weeks 'Smackdown' to Slider because I went back and read a bunch of his old posts. If you put your own feelings about gold aside and really listen to what he has said- I don't think he's saying that gold has a stake thru its heart here. He's pounded the table on the trading range of late, but seems to be holding his cards close to the vest about when, what and how gold, and silver move higher.

Slider- please comment on your longerterm feelings about gold/silver and under what conditions gold/silver either move much lower- or much higher.

TIA,

Ron

ps- in your posts last year you said many subprimes would go to ZERO- and right you were. Do you think this will spill over to a degree that will take down the broader market- and gold/silver with it?
