OT ....

"More shame
I used to feel bad the we dropped the nuke on civilians rather than military instillations until i read how newspapers in major japanese cities took bets on which one of their generals could chop of the most heads of chinese peasants in a given time span...."

Question: Did you consider the fact the Japanese military, for all practical purpose, ran the 'newspapers' back then ? Everything printed support the war ideology. If not,and one was to consider printing anything contrary to military doctrine you would find yourself taken out back and shot,or worse, imprisoned to die a slower death. Such has been my understanding for sometime now.
