The Coming Combat NCO Shortage-

A U.S. Army plan to modify combat pay, so that those who have spent more time in combat, get more money to reflect that

PTSD and/or combat burn-out are reflected in alcohol related incident rates.

Doing drugs is not a viable option in the military. The penalty is too severe. Alcohol is legal so it is the drug of choice.

Several weeks ago, I was told by a solid source, with direct access to the numbers, that the alcohol related incident rate for men with 2 or more tours in Iraq/Afghan is off the charts.

Bandaids do not keep gaping wounds clean. More pay is not going to fix this.

DOD is lost in their own building. Petreaus is already calling for even more troops. P is determined to fix an unconventional warfare problem with conventional big army tactics. Too bad P can't spend some time talking to the man who proved that won't work - General Westmoreland.
